WASC Accreditation Process

During the 2023-24 school year, Weed High School conducted an accreditation self study and was visited by a group of educators from around Northern California. We are proud and excited to announce that because of our report and visit, Weed High School received a six year accreditation which is the highest accreditation term possible. We would like to thank our staff, students and parents who participated in this process. This is a confirmation that Weed High School is working to address the needs of our students and is preparing them for their futures. During the 2024-25 school year, we will be working to address and implement the Action Plan that was created from the accreditation process and will help us continue to improve our educational process and ensure we are meeting the needs of all our students. The action plan includes the following goals:

SCHOOL GOAL 1 : Improve students' academic and technical proficiency in all content areas:

  1. To meet AYP targets in English Language Arts (66.7%) and Math (66.1%)- Increase the number of students scoring at or above 380 on the CAHSEE.

  2. To meet API targets of 680 in English Language Arts and Math - Increase the number of students at the proficient or advanced levels on the California Standards test.

  3. Increase the number of students successfully completing the Advanced, AP, and Honors level courses.

  4. Increase the number of students completing college level courses for the purpose of advancing vocational prep or completing transferable units.

  5. Increase the average daily attendance rats for all students.

  6. Implement a comprehensive data management system to streamline and enhance accessibility, fostering a data-driven instructional approach to inform educational practices.

  7. Establish cross-curricular collaboration initiatives, encouraging teachers to integrate content and skills across subjects to enhance students' holistic understanding.

  8. Develop and implement a fair and consistent discipline policy, providing clear guidelines and consequences, while promoting a positive school culture through proactive behavior support.

SCHOOL GOAL 2: Increase our students' ability and motivation to graduate from high school with a variety of college and career options and make a successful transition to their futures.

  1. Increase the number of students completing the A-G requirements.

  2. Increase the number of students taking the SAT or ACT test and scoring at or above the state average.

  3. Increase the number of students successfully completing 3rd and 4th year math, science, and language courses.

  4. Increase the number of students completing articulation and certification sequences of courses.

  5. Increase the number of students entering college or post secondary training options after high school.

  6. Regularly assess and align classroom activities, instructional strategies, and assessments with the overall educational goals of the school, ensuring a cohesive and purposeful learning experience.

  7. Collaborate with district stakeholders to establish transparent communication channels regarding budget allocations, ensuring clarity and understanding among all stakeholders.

SCHOOL GOAL 3: Increase our community collaboration and partnership bae with parents, elementary schools, colleges, business and industry, and government agencies.

  1. Increase the opportunities for parental involvement with student's schoolwork and school activities.

  2. Increase community involvement with student learning and school activities.

  3. Continue to provide opportunities for students to work on community related projects.

  4. Facilitate a collaborative visioning process involving staff, students, and parents to articulate a clear and inspiring vision that aligns with our educational objectives.

  5. Develop targeted initiatives to enhance parents involvement, including workshops, events, and communication strategies to strengthen the home-school partnership.

  6. Implement a comprehensive communication plan, utilizing various channels such as social media, newsletters, and events to keep stakeholders informed about school activities and achievements.

  7. Establish protocols for the regular maintenance and updates of digital tools and platforms, such as Google Classroom and Aeries, ensuring they remain effective and accessible resources for both staff, students, and parents.

In the ongoing follow-up process for WASC accreditation, the dedicated staff at Weed High School is committed to implementing a comprehensive data management system, fostering cross-curricular collaboration initiatives, and developing a fair and consistent discipline policy. Through a collaborative approach, the staff will align classroom assignments and activities with school-wide educational goals, ensuring a cohesive learning experience. Additionally, they will strive for district transparency with budgetary matters, refine the school's vision to reflect current educational needs, and actively seek ways to increase parent support and participation. The staff will prioritize enhancing campus communication strategies and maintaining effective digital tools. By fostering a culture of teamwork and a shared commitment to "get it done," our staff will continually work towards achieving these goals, creating a school environment that is dynamic, responsive, and continually improving for the benefit of our students and the entire school community.
